Ceremony Writing and Coaching

So your friend or family member will be officiating for you. You’re excited, but at the same time a little nervous because they’ve never done it before.

You might be asking yourself:

What if they stumble through the ceremony? What if they get stage fright? What if the ceremony bores your guests (and you) to tears???

I’ve written entire ceremonies from start to finish couples have given to a friend or family member to read from, and would love to do the same for you!

Why have a professional write your ceremony?

Would you hire a photographer just because they bought a new camera? Of course you wouldn’t! You want to hire an experienced professional that knows how to capture every beautiful moment of your big day, because it’s what they do!

When you hire me to write the ceremony for your friend or family to deliver at the altar, you’ll get the same experience as you would when hiring me as your officiant!

How it works:

  1. We get to know each other through a fun video conference where you’ll both spill the details of how you met, fell in love, got engaged, and what brought you to the point of deciding to spend the rest of your lives together. We’ll also talk about how you envision your ceremony to unfold and what you’d like to include in your ceremony such as readings and unity elements.

  2. After our time together, I’ll create a written draft for your review and approval. You’ll have complete control over any changes, and we’ll continue to make updates until you’re absolutely thrilled with your ceremony!

  3. Once we’re done with the script, you’ll have the option to continue working on writing personal vows to share with each other, or we can deliver your ceremony as is to your officiant.

  4. One-on-one coaching service is also available where I’ll meet with your officiant to walk them through the rehearsal and ceremony process, and where they’ll be given pro tips on how to perform a flawless ceremony and rehearsal.

Q: How soon can we schedule a video conference to discuss our ceremony?

A: As soon as payment is received for your choice package, I’ll contact you with available times and you can schedule our conference at a time that works best for you!

Q: How long will our video conference last?

A. You can expect our meeting to last between 30-45 minutes, depending on the elements you’d like included in your ceremony. If you’re not sure what elements you’d like to have, no worries! I’m here to guide you. If you love to chat as I do, it may be closer to an hour. ;)

Q: How long before we get to see our 1st ceremony draft? How long will it take for our ceremony to be finished?

A. You can expect to review your 1st draft about 2 to 3 working days after we meet. Most ceremonies are written within 1-2 weeks depending on my workload, but isn’t truly finished until you say so! :)

Q: Does the written ceremony come with instructions so my officiant knows the order of ceremony?

A. Yes! The ceremony will include instructions such as, “as soon as the Bride approaches, say ALL RISE”, can we have the rings please"? (etc.).

Q: We’ve chosen the package that includes Vow Coaching. Do you coach us together?

A. No. Part of the excitement of writing your own vows is to hear them for the 1st time at your wedding! I’ll meet with you separately via email and/or video conference to help you put what’s already on your heart on paper. Just like ceremony writing, you’ll approve your vows before they are finished.

Q. Is coaching our Officiant really necessary?

A. Maybe not. If your Officiant has public speaking experience or has already officiated a wedding or 2, they may not benefit from coaching.

Officiant coaching is perfect for someone who has never officiated or spoken in front of an audience. I’ll walk them through both rehearsal and the entire ceremony step-by-step so they (and you) will be confident everything will go as planned!
